Whether you are coming for a ski holiday or a summer holiday Chatel has something for everyone. Its location close to Geneva airport and the easy drive from te UK makes traveling easy on the pocket! Once here the micro climate created by Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) and surrounding mountains of the Dura and the Alps provide great snow cover from late November through to May with the spring melt down providing lush scenery in the often scorching summer months.

The old farming village has kept all its original charm but has continued to keep up with modern technology. The village is the perfect base for getting the most from the 650km of piste on offer in Chatel and around the Portes du Soleil. From Chatel you can access the mountain from 6 different lift stations eliminating all lift queues. We also benefit from being situated only 5 minutes from the Swiss border making it possible to start and finish in Morgins and excellent Swiss ski resort. Not many ski resorts offer you a start in France, lunch in Switzerland and back in France for the afternoon vin chaud. The ski area has many circuits covering the 12 resorts that make up the PDS. With a range of graded pistes to suite all, numerous snow parks, off piste and cross country skiing and a wide range of excellent facilties for children, Chatel really does have something for everyone.

Behind the scenes Chatel is busy developing the pistes for summer mountain biking. 2009 has seen 14 Million euros invested in new chairlifts, snow cannons and a new large reservoir. When finished all the pistes in Chatel can be covered in 48 hours with 20cm of snow. The end result will mean extended ski season and with cold temperatures - guaranteed snow.

Away from the slopes the village of Chatel also caters for all of its visitors providing a selection of shops, bars and resturants. During the week the tourist office runs a regular programme for both old and young during both the summer and winter season. Getting around is also no problem with FREE shuttle buses running a regular intervals meaning no one is isolated. the locals are mostly descendants from there fore fathers who settled here as farmers and welcome tourists to the village, english is widely spoken.

When not frozen and being used for ice skating, the village boasts the highest fountain in France on Lac de Vonnes.
